To make sure nobody forgets, the app reminds you to export a backup every 90 days. Just a friendly nudge, so your information is never lost when you upgrade or replace your phone. Important: a backup only protects you if you save it somewhere off the phone that you can reach from another device — like Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox, or a computer. A copy that stays only on the phone (or sits unopened in your email) won't help if the phone is lost, stolen, or broken.

Companion Apps — General

Applies to all our apps

Your health data is stored on your device, not on our servers. We have no accounts or database of your records, and we can't read what you enter. It leaves your phone only when you choose to share it — in one of three ways you control: syncing with a partner, exporting a PDF, or saving a backup file. With Partner Sync, only an encrypted copy passes briefly through a secure relay service we use (a third-party host), where it can't be read, and it's deleted within 24 hours.

We (the developer) have no user accounts or logins, and we don't collect your health information. Two things to know: the free banner ad is served by a third-party ad network (such as Google AdMob), which collects a device advertising identifier to show ads; and if you use Partner Sync, an encrypted copy of the data you choose passes briefly through a secure relay service we use (a third-party host) — not “directly” between phones — and we can't read it.

HIPAA governs healthcare providers, health plans, and healthcare clearinghouses — the “covered entities” — and the business associates who handle data on their behalf. Companion Apps is none of these. SeniorHealthCompanion is a personal record-keeping tool: you enter your own information, it stays on your device, and you decide if and when to share it — by exporting a PDF or starting Partner Sync. Because we're not a covered entity and your health information stays under your control, HIPAA's rules for those entities don't apply to us. (If you use Partner Sync, an encrypted copy passes briefly through a secure relay service we use to reach the device you chose — and we can't read it.)

No. Every Companion App is free to download. There's no subscription and no hidden fees. A small banner ad helps keep the app free — it never has access to your health data, which stays private on your device at all times.

Yes — entering and viewing your health records works completely offline, with no wifi or cellular needed. You'll need a connection only when you choose to share your data: syncing with a partner, or sending or saving a PDF export or backup file. Your records themselves are always available offline.

When you turn on Calendar sync for a doctor's appointment, the app writes that appointment directly to your phone's own calendar app — the same as if you'd typed it in yourself. From then on, the app periodically checks in and keeps the calendar event's date and time up to date automatically, so if you edit the appointment in the app, the calendar entry updates to match — you don't have to change it in two places. It all happens on your device, between the app and your phone's calendar; nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. You can turn Calendar sync off at any time in Settings — that just stops future updates, it doesn't delete events already on your calendar, so you'd remove those from your calendar app directly if you want them gone.

Yes — the app includes a PDF export feature that produces a clean, professionally formatted document with all your health information. You can email it to your doctor, print it before an appointment, or share it with family members.

Yes — the app supports multiple profiles and includes a sync feature that lets you share your health data with a spouse or caregiver on their own device. You control what is shared and when.

The most common cause is that one device is running an older version of the app than the other — Partner Sync works best when both devices are fully up to date, so check the App Store or Google Play for an available update on both phones first. Also double-check the pairing code: each one is generated fresh for a single use, so make sure you're reading it directly off the Send screen and entering it right away, rather than reusing an older code. If you've confirmed both devices are updated and the code is current and it's still not connecting, email us at support@companionapps.app and we'll help sort it out.

Yes — the app includes optional PIN, fingerprint, and Face ID security to protect your health records (fingerprint unlock works on devices that have it, such as many iPads and Android phones). Importantly, the Emergency Card remains accessible even when the app is locked, so first responders can always access your critical information.

The app's interface is available in 10 languages: English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Filipino, Russian, and Ukrainian. These translations are generated using AI and Google Translate to help you navigate the app's screens in your preferred language. Your own entries always appear exactly as you type them.

Yes — the backup feature saves all your data as a single file, and Restore imports it on a new device, including all profiles and health records. Two important tips. First, keep the backup somewhere OFF your phone that you can get to from another device — Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox, or a computer. A backup that stays only on your phone won't help if the phone is lost, stolen, or broken, and emailing it to yourself isn't enough unless you actually download and save the file somewhere you can retrieve it. Second, to restore, save the backup file onto the device first (for example, to Downloads or Files) and import it from there — it won't import directly from an email attachment.

Yes — the app includes a text size setting (small, medium, large) in Settings. The default is medium. Large works best on a tablet or a larger phone; on a smaller phone, medium usually reads best. You can change it at any time.

The Emergency screen shows your most critical health information in one place — blood type, emergency contacts, primary physician, current medications, allergies, DNR information, and hardware implants. ER staff can see everything they need immediately without searching through the app.

Hardware implants like pacemakers, stents, and joint replacements affect what medical procedures are safe — especially MRI scans. Most people forget to mention these in an emergency. Having them in the app means ER staff can check immediately.

Not at this time. Connecting to medical portals would make the app subject to HIPAA regulations, significantly changing its nature. You can manually enter test results, and notes can be typed or pasted from any source. We are exploring safe ways to add this in a future version.

All printers are different — make sure yours is set up properly. If text gets cut off on the right, go to your print settings and set the scale to about 90% (or choose "Fit to page"). That fixes it on any printer.

End-to-End Encrypted Partner Sync

Optional Partner Sync uses a short-lived relay hosted on Supabase. Your selected data is encrypted on your device before it is sent. The relay stores only ciphertext and cannot decrypt it — only the paired device with your shared code can. Temporary payloads automatically expire and are purged within 24 hours. Nothing is sent unless you start Partner Sync yourself.

Telemetry & Crash Reporting

We use Sentry for crash reporting in production builds. Before any report is sent, we scrub personally identifiable information, health-related content, and request bodies. You can turn crash reporting off at any time in Settings.

Non-Personalized Ads

Senior Health Companion is free and supported by a Google AdMob banner ad. We request non-personalized ads only. We never share your health data with AdMob or any advertiser.

We Do Not Sell Your Data

Your health data is yours. We don't use it for our own purposes, and we never sell or rent it — to anyone, for any reason.

Data Erasure

You can erase all app data at any time using Reset App & Erase All Data in Settings, or by uninstalling the app. If you saved a backup file elsewhere, delete that copy yourself — we do not retain one.

Optional Partner Sync lets you share your meal plan or shopping list with another device (for example, a spouse or partner) using a short-lived relay hosted on Supabase. Your selected content is encrypted on your device before it is sent. The relay stores only ciphertext and cannot decrypt it — only the paired device with your shared code can. Temporary payloads automatically expire and are purged within 24 hours. Nothing is sent unless you start Partner Sync yourself.

Dining-Out Location

If you mark a meal as dining out, the app requests access to your device's location to search for and display nearby restaurant options. Location is used only for that lookup, is not stored beyond what's needed to show those results, and is not shared with AdMob or any advertiser.

Telemetry & Crash Reporting

We use Sentry for crash reporting in production builds. Before any report is sent, we scrub personally identifiable information and request bodies. You can turn crash reporting off at any time in Settings.

Non-Personalized Ads

SimpleTable is free and supported by a Google AdMob banner ad. We request non-personalized ads only. AdMob does not read your recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, or location — the same as our health apps, it only sees an anonymous advertising ID used to decide which ad to show. We never share your recipe, meal plan, shopping list, or location data with AdMob or any advertiser.

Data Erasure

You may permanently delete your data at any time by selecting 'Reset App & Erase All Data' in Settings or by uninstalling the application.

Recipe & Nutrition Disclaimer

SimpleTable provides recipe suggestions, ingredient substitutions, meal scheduling, and shopping list generation for general convenience and culinary planning only. It does not provide certified medical, dietary, or nutritional advice. You are solely responsible for verifying ingredients, potential allergens, food preparation safety, and cooking or thaw times for yourself and anyone consuming food prepared using recipes or plans stored in the app.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

SimpleTable is not directed to children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal data, we will delete it immediately.

SimpleTable is free to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play, with no subscription and no hidden fees. A small banner advertisement helps keep the app free.

Your content and Partner Sync

You retain ownership of all recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and other content you create or store in the app. When you use Partner Sync to share your meal plan or shopping list, you authorize Companion Apps LLC to transmit that content, in encrypted form, through our relay solely to deliver it to the device you choose to share with. We do not access, read, use, or store the readable content, and this authorization applies only to what you actively choose to share via Partner Sync — not to any other content you keep in the app. You agree not to share content through Partner Sync that is illegal, defamatory, infringes on intellectual property rights, or contains malicious code.

Provided as-is

The app is provided as-is, without any guarantee of uninterrupted or error-free service.

Limitation of liability

The developer is not liable for allergic reactions, foodborne illness, or other outcomes related to food preparation, allergens, or nutrition based on information stored in or displayed by this app.

Intended use

This app is intended for personal meal planning and grocery organization only, to help you organize recipes, meal plans, and shopping lists for yourself and your household.

Age requirement

You must be at least 18 years old to use this app.
